Fulton County Arts Funding Vote Highlights

Yesterday's vote revealed a stark need for change in Fulton County leadership. With a $69 million surplus, the rejection of $1.7 million in arts funding is alarming. This, alongside cuts to essential services, highlights the urgency for new direction. The time for impactful leadership is now. Media Credit: Marvin Arrington Jr

Vote on 1.7 million additional
Funding for arts organizations
In Fulton County, for a total of
3 million for 2025.

We could have approved this in January when we approved the budget or in February, but 5 commissioners voted against it. Only Barrett and Arrington voting, yes.

In August, after finding out we have a $69 million dollar surplus, @themoivory brought this item back twice, but 4 commissioners voted against it both times. Pitts, Thorne, Ellis, and Abdur-Rahman. With Ivory, Barrett, and Arrington voting, yes.

The screenshot above captures the vote from yesterday’s meeting. Pay attention to the name missing from a yes vote. This person voted against the additional Funding four (4) times this year and there name is missing from the above screenshot.

This, along with cutting 1 million for veterans services, $1 million for senior services, and $500,000 for summer youth jobs, is why I have decided to run to be the next Chair of Fulton County.
